This glossary has been compiled by students at the University of Innsbruck in cooperation with planlicht specialists. The current version contains explanations of general terms used in the lighting industry and specific vocabulary concerning products from our low-voltage range in German, English and French.
The luminous intensity of any surface in a given direction per unit area of that surface as viewed from that direction. Measured in candela/m2. All visible objects have some luminance. Units: Candela per unit area, Symbol L.
